15/01/2011 Normanville Fishing Report

Location: Normanville

Time: 15/011/2011, from 11:00am to 5:00pm

Condition:
Weather – sunny
Temperature – around 30 degree C
Tide – from high to low(there was not much change throught out the fishing period) 
Wind – 5 knots South

Target:

Try out our new gear!!! Hopefully hook up some nice silver Drummers!!!

Observation:

Burley was used in this trip, it was made with bread, ultra bite, “sort of mullet mix” and fresh saltwater from Normanville. It successfully drew sweep, leather jacket, zebra, puffer and garfish attention.

Most of the Zebra were caught by Pearly who used Nitro Sniper rod with 4000 shimano symmetre rigged with simply a ~5 gram running sinker and a single japanese bream hook (It is worth to mention here). This outfit perfectly delivered the bait into the bottom also as close the rock as possible. 

All the sweep seen were juvenile, while the puffer fish annoyed us every now and then. Garfish would be the highlight in this trip, cos they were not what we expected to encounter. They showed up not long after applying burley in the beginning of the trip. But we only caught them at the last minutes of the trip by ISO gear. The brand new surf gear used by Steven didn’t yield any bottom dwelling species like whiting, founder or flathead. Anyway, it supposed to be a trip to test our new surf and ISO gear bought from Hong Kong, so what should we expect?

Action:

The fish kept biting throughout the day because of the effect of burley.

However, there was a quiet moment from 1 to 2 pm when Pearyl was taking a nap cos she felt tired of catching big zebra.

Nothing happened for Surf fishing.

ISO was just okay.

Achievement:

Garfish tend to bite moving object instead of stationary bait. Fly or lure should be able to catch them even though I had caught garfish with fly before.
